About the Reviewed Program
This program is part of Housatonic Community College's FORWARD program and was developed as a result of funding through a federal Department of Labor TAACCCT grant. FORWARD will train a highly skilled and resilient workforce of dislocated workers, veterans, underemployed and unemployed individuals to enter high-demand jobs in healthcare and information technology occupations. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a multi-skilled health care worker who has already earned certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA). This program prepares students to work in long term care facilities, hospitals, and private duty.

This program prepares students to work in long term care facilities, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and private duty. This program is taught with a combination of lecture, hands-on practical lab exercises, and real-world clinical experience conducted off-campus at an actual medical facility. This program is designed to prepare Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to function as multi-skilled care providers in a variety of health-care settings and to increase employers' abilities to meet their workforce needs. This program is primarily held in a face-to-face format on the Housatonic Community College campus in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
