Students learn how to use available resources in libraries, write a bibliography, take notes, practice the investigation and composition of good Biblical studies for use in Hispanic church and its Theological courses in the Seminary.

To examine the theological tradition Christian believers have inherited and its role in our current theological work as Hispanics. By the end of the course, the student will be better able to articulate a sound, clear, just theology contextualized to the Hispanic reality.

To expose the student to a range of experiences in the field of Pastoral Care and to provide a biblical-theological basis of understanding the fundamentals of Pastoral Care.

To help the student understand the basic areas of church history, from the early church until the modern age.
PMH 260 - Survey of the Hebrew Bible (formerly Introduction to Hebrew Bible [Introduccion al Antiguo Testamento]), January 1995 through May 2007: 1.5 credits, lower division level
To gain knowledge of the social, political and cultural background of the community that produced the Old Testament text. To learn about the fundamental message of the Old Testament and acquire certain facility with the various books contained in the Old Testament, including the facility for and openness to critical interpretation of Old Testament texts. The student shall also acquire and develop enthusiasm in the use of the Old Testament in pastoral work, particularly preaching.
PMH 270 - Introduction to the New Testament (Introduccion al Nuevo Testamento), February 1995 through Fall 1998: 1.5 credits in Religion or Theology, lower division level (NOTE: This course was replaced in Fall 1998 by a choice of either PMH 275 or PMH 280)
To develop basic understanding of each book of the New Testament, including both content and interpretive methods for the various genres found in the literature. The world of the New Testament and application of the documents to our own world are also explored.
PMH 280 - The New Testament: Paul and His Letters, September 1999 through May 2007: 2 credits, lower division level
To introduce the student to the in-depth study of the Pauline epistles, their structure, origin, and message. Attention will also be paid to the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul.
